Our Approach
Our consistent aim is to be objective, systematic, and thoughtful in the way we approach the work. To optimize accuracy, we utilize multiple sources of information, develop and explore many hypotheses, and we remain committed to and informed by the research literature particular to any given case. Our findings are then presented in a clear, comprehensive professional report on the psychological matter being addressed.
We maintain a small practice and accept a limited number of referrals so that we can provide personalized attention and service in each and every case. With many years of experience in the field, our clinicians have completed evaluations addressing many types of psychological questions, and have served as experts in courts of law in DE, PA, NJ, and CT.
Testing
The methods used for Psychological Evaluation & Forensic Testing are called Psychometrics.
Psychometrics – originated from the Greek words for “mental” and “measurement.” It specifically pertains to the field in psychology that is devoted to testing, measurement, assessment and other related activities.
A psychometric, or psychological measurement, is obtained by performing a range of psychometric tests. The types of tests used are specifically chosen by a licensed professional to address identified concerns. These tests seek to measure one's knowledge, abilities, skills, educational achievement, and personality traits. The testing methods vary by case and may include verbal interviewing, written testing, observation, obtaining reports and/or interviews with other involved parties or institutions.
Reports
The purpose of Psychological Evaluation & Forensic Testing is to inform a more thorough understanding of an individual’s cognitive and emotional capabilities. This information, and subsequent diagnoses, is important when considering recommendations for treatment and/or an individual’s continued involvement in a legal matter.
What is included in a report?
Typically, our reports are broken down into the following sections:
Referral Question
Personal Background Information
Mental Status Exam
Psychological Test Findings
Diagnosis
Recommendations
Reports are a means to clearly present important information, diagnoses and specific testing results to aid in an individual’s treatment plan and/or in related judicial decisions.
